Development Management & New Works Engineer

We are expanding our Transport Development Management team to deal with growth in the town. Your role will be to help ensure that the transport aspects of development are fully considered and that the resulting transport infrastructure is properly constructed and adopted. This role offers you the valuable opportunity to contribute throughout the development process - assessing applications, overseeing legal agreements and ensuring that developers construct agreed changes to the highway to time and quality.
You will be joining our highly regarded Transport Development Management team where you will use your professional skills and experience in either, or ideally both, development management and subsequent highway construction. You will provide professional advice on the transport implications of planning applications to the Council’s Planning and Regeneration Service and then work with colleagues to prepare Section 38 and 278 Agreements and agree and monitor Travel Plans.
Previous experience of preparing or dealing with planning applications or highway engineering is required, experience advising a Planning Committee is desirable. You will be have experience in Town Planning, Civil Engineering or other appropriate subject at degree level or equivalent and will be willing to secure a professional qualification, if not already held. You will demonstrate sound negotiating ability in dealing with prospective developers.
This is a permanent position within our career grade scheme. Starting salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications.
