Transport for the North (TfN) has been formed as part of the strategic response to the changing transport and infrastructure needs of the whole of the North of England. It incorporates the city regions of Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield connecting these cities and the wider regional towns and cities across the North of England, to drive better connectivity, economic growth and better opportunity for all. It is crystal clear that “the cities of the North together can be greater than the sum of their parts”.
Devolving strategic transport planning powers through STBs via this amendment to the Bill demonstrates the Government’s clear commitment to the Northern Powerhouse and rebalancing the economy outside of London. Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), on behalf of TfN, is looking to recruit the following role: The role Four Year Fixed Term Contract /Secondment (public sector bodies only): The Contractor Engineering Manager will lead the technical co-ordination of inputs from sub-groups covering indicative train service specifications, analysis and modelling, rail corridor and station studies, overseeing delivery, interfaces, risks and opportunities to shape future developments and formalise the Northern Powerhouse Rail (NPR) requirements. You will also work in partnership with the Strategy and Policy team and other key TfN work streams.
In the role you will be responsible for managing technical delivery, co-ordinating sub groups and work stream priorities, implementing and integrating new network concepts and implementing a tool kit of working practices that create best practice across TfN. What we’re looking for:
