Policy Officer

(part-time 4 days a week, 12 month fixed-term contract)

Starting salary: £34,807 pro-rata

London TravelWatch is the watchdog for transport users in and around the capital. We champion their interests through representation, consultation, investigation, monitoring and by taking every opportunity to press for a better travel experience for all. Our work is particularly crucial at the moment when so much investment is being made in the transport infrastructure which will set the framework for generations to come.

You will be expected to have a detailed knowledge of current rail, London Underground and interchange issues together with a good understanding of generic transport policy, operations and consumer issues.  You will be aware of what passengers need whilst also understanding the key issues facing operators. Essential to this role is your ability to conduct impact analyses of service provision and proposals such as timetable changes, train planning, rail franchising, fares and ticketing.

To succeed you will need to be an experienced and highly effective communicator providing professional support to members and staff to inform our policy making.  Confident and committed to service excellence, you will have a major input to national and local consultations and will be required to make key representations to external stakeholders.
