Are you a versatile and enthusiastic programme management professional with experience of managing the implementation of the technology elements of a diverse range of business, construction, and civil infrastructure programmes to time and budget? Are you seeking an opportunity to extend your influence by playing a fundamental role in the successful realisation of a range of implementations across Greater Manchester?

Projects Group within TfGM is changing. As well as our more traditional transport construction projects and programmes, such as Metrolink, transport interchanges, rail stations, highways and bus priority, we are now delivering a range of emerging priorities from easing congestion, addressing air quality and encouraging more people to cycle and walk. We are seeking an individual who is an experienced leader within a project and programme environment to contribute to the delivery of our challenging and emerging strategic priorities and to oversee the delivery of a defined and varied range of projects, programmes and systems deliverables from inception to completion.

Reporting to a senior leader within Projects Group, in this role you will lead and develop teams of effective Project and Programme Managers to ensure excellence in the delivery of a wide range of construction-related projects and programmes with enabling technology, ensure that up-to-date and appropriate tools and methodologies, for example Agile methodologies, are considered for the delivery of projects and programmes, and establish and disseminate guidance reflecting best practice, post implementation feedback and research. You will also contribute to the management and leadership of the Projects Group function and the wider organisation.

You will have considerable experience in a senior leadership role involving the planning and management of teams and work programmes. You will also have strong management, negotiating, analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data, both text and numerical, whilst working to tight deadlines and meeting funding and operational targets. You will have strong communication skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders using a variety of forms of communication. You will have experience of presenting information to a range of political, professional and public audiences.

This is a busy and exciting time for TfGM: under the devolution agreement and with Greater Manchester at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse, transport will play a vital role in supporting sustainable growth and prosperity in the UK’s largest regional economy outside London. Our Projects Group are responsible for delivery of a large, complex and technically diverse portfolio of capital delivery projects and operational programmes across TfGM and other partner organisations.

Educated to degree level or with equivalent levels of experience, you will hold a relevant project / programme management qualification and have demonstrable and extensive experience of core technology disciplines and leading project and programme management teams.

The salary for this role is £75,443 - £84,913 per annum. In return, as well as a competitive salary, we also offer a range of fantastic benefits, such as:
•Free Rail or Metrolink travel to and from work within the Greater Manchester boundary
•Free bus travel within Greater Manchester
•27 days holiday per annum
•Access to the local government pension scheme
