We’re already establishing a reputation for outcomes and our achievements include the agreement of a first-stage devolution deal and a £1billion-plus Growth Deal that will be a catalyst for growing businesses, developing a skilled workforce and investment in housing and transport. Our Director, Transport Services plays a key role leading and directing the development and delivery of all transport services for the organisation. A significant part of this activity is within the strong and long standing Metro brand, an integral part of WYCA. Having achieved a £1bn plus Growth Deal, the biggest in the country, the focus is now on delivery to drive economic growth.  We are working with government on achieving a devolution deal that will provide us with the powers and resources to achieve our ambitions.

A strategic leader you will develop a modern, customer focused transport service which anticipates and meets the needs of those travelling in the region. You will develop a high performing culture, with teams who deliver high quality transport services whilst achieving the outcomes required by the city region boards and WYCA’s overall business plan.  Beyond accountability for the provision of public transport information, you will ensure a strong reputation for customer focus and excellence.

With excellent knowledge of the UK public transport industry and funding arrangements for passenger transport and local transport, you will successfully lead the development of effective transport strategies which meet the requirements of our stakeholders in the region. However, under your leadership Transport Services will also contribute to the corporate goals of the combined authority, a proactive and fully integrated component of the organisation. This is both a strategic and corporate role yet with operational responsibilities – you will oversee a modern and efficient service while influencing transport policy and relevant business planning.

Your previous experience will include successful service leadership, having inspired and motivated people across a range of large complex and multi-discipline teams. Our modern transport services will benefit from your sound understanding of relevant technologies together with knowledge of portfolio, programme and project management.  You will be able to evidence successful experience of managing large scale budgets, together with directing resources to secure and manage funding streams.
