The role of Senior Transportation Strategy & Engagement Officer is a vital function within Planning, Transport and Development as it will require making a key contribution in supporting the Transportation Strategy & Engagement Manager in securing multi million pound programmes of work designed specifically to manage congestion and stimulate economic growth.
The postholder primarily has a geographical area responsibility and is required to undertake effective and enhanced communications with internal and external stakeholders within the area.
The postholder will play a key role in working with major infrastructure teams to deliver schemes.
The role will also have responsibility for engaging with senior politicians, district/borough/city councils and key stakeholders with respect to transportation strategy.
The Role:
Operating primarily on a locality basis, and engaging with key strategic stakeholders within an operations management environment, the role is to support the Transportation Strategy & Engagement Manager to devise and co-ordinate land use transportation strategies, by working across the customer operations service, and in collaboration with a wide range of local authority, government agency and private sector organisations. The postholder will make a key contribution to explore funding opportunities, and help devise delivery programmes to provide an effective forward planning service. Acting in close collaboration with ECC’s Commissioners, the postholder will help assemble policies, initiatives, schemes and measures on primarily, a geographical basis to integrate land use and transportation provision, and on a case by case basis sub commission subsequent design and delivery work, often being responsible for a complete programme of activities.
The role will operate under tight financial constraints and deliver using matrix management principles, ensuring excellence of service across the department, and contribute to change management, concluding ECC’s transformation and ensuring it is configured for continuous improvement.
