Plymouth City Council is a modern unitary authority with ambitious growth plans located in within the beautiful south west of England. With major redevelopment taking place across the City together with significant transport infrastructure projects and we are looking for two Transport Planning Officers to join our Infrastructure and Development teams.
This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated transport professionals to join our busy highways development control Team, or Strategic Transport Projects Team, in a dynamic environment that is directly involved in shaping and influencing Plymouth’s highway infrastructure.
Post 1. You will play an important role delivering transport and highway advice on a wide range of development proposals to achieve the wider regeneration objectives of the city. You will have a degree or equivalent in Transport, or a related discipline and have demonstrable experience in detailed highway infrastructure design and standards. Ideally you will have highway development control experience which would demonstrate technical awareness, an understanding of Transport Assessments and a working knowledge of Highways Act 1980 legislation and procedures including Section 38 and S278.
Post 2. You will join the team delivering the key transport infrastructure essential to the growth of the city. You will bring extensive experience of project management as well as responsibility for commissioning studies, preparing business cases and funding bids. You will have a degree or equivalent in a transport or related discipline and extensive experience of delivering transport schemes and demonstrable knowledge of transport planning. You will have experience of working within, or for, a local authority or government agency.
