The Senior Transportation Strategy & Engagement Officer will play a key role in producing area based integrated transport strategies across Essex. The role will support the strategic co-ordination of land use and transportation planning activities by working across the service, and in collaboration with a wide range of local authority, government agency and private sector organisations. The postholder will play a key role in working with major infrastructure teams to deliver schemes.
The postholder will make a key contribution to explore funding opportunities, and help devise delivery programmes to provide an effective forward planning service. The postholder will help assemble policies, initiatives, schemes and measures on primarily, a geographical basis to integrate land use and transportation provision, and on a case by case basis sub-commission subsequent design and delivery work, often being responsible for a complete programme of activities.
Operating primarily on a locality basis, and engaging with key strategic stakeholders within an operations management environment, the role is to support the Transportation Strategy & Engagement Manager in securing multi million pound programmes of work designed specifically to manage congestion and stimulate economic growth. The role will also have responsibility for engaging with senior politicians, district/borough/city councils and key stakeholders with respect to transportation strategy.
The role will operate under tight financial constraints and deliver using matrix management principles, ensuring excellence of service across the department, and contribute to change management, concluding ECC’s transformation and ensuring it is configured for continuous improvement.
