The Transport Planning Unit identifies, develops and delivers transport schemes to meet the objectives of the County Council’s Local Transport Plan and the Coventry and Warwickshire Local Enterprise Partnership’s Strategic Economic Plan. The County Council has an enviable record of securing funding and delivering major transport improvements across all modes of travel. In recent years this has included new rail stations and major new or improved road and cycle infrastructure.

There is much more to come and you will help to deliver an ambitious pipeline of schemes. Transport modelling is central to our work and you will be joining an authority that is leading the way in utilising the latest modelling techniques.

The Role
37 hours per week
£30,756 - £35,229

You will have a varied and challenging workload. Your primary role will be to analyse and respond to transport assessments for major developments. You will also play a leading role in preparing the County Council’s strategic transport assessments which inform the spatial planning proposals of Warwickshire’s five District/Borough Councils.

Through this work you will identify, design and develop multi-modal solutions to transport challenges. You can also expect to lead the development of and help implement transport strategies for specific areas of the County and to project manage individual transport schemes from their inception to delivery.

Key Requirements
To be successful in this role you will need to be motivated, creative and have good organisational skills.

You will need excellent numeracy and analytical skills in order to evaluate and interpret transport data and modelling outputs. You will also use these skills to develop detailed understanding of transport problems and to identify, explore and develop solutions.

You will need to be an advanced excel user, able to use spreadsheets to analyse and manipulate complex data.

As you will be working with and alongside a wide range of internal and external colleagues, partners and clients, you will need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, and be used to providing technical information to varied audiences.

You should be educated to degree level (or equivalent) and have experience in transport planning or a related field. The successful applicant will be appointed at Engineering Level 3 or 4 on a salary appropriate to their current levels of qualifications and experience
