Salary: £39,002 - £41,846 per annum
Contract type: Permanent, full time position working 37 hours per week

Are you an experienced Principal Transport Planner? Come and join our Planning Services department and help make a difference to the lives of the residents within West Sussex.
You will lead on a range of strategic highways and transport matters which help to achieve the key priorities set out in the Future West Sussex Plan and contribute to achieving the County Council’s aspirations for transport and the local economy as outlined in the West Sussex Transport Plan. Applying extensive knowledge and experience in the transport planning specialism, the postholder will be required to provide expert advice on strategic transport matters and input into planning and policy consultation responses, external funding bids and airport surface access strategies. You will have a particular focus on providing expert input into transport policy and using transport planning tools to prepare well evidenced business cases which effectively articulate the case for investment.
What you need to succeed:
We are looking for someone with extensive knowledge and experience of transport planning, including development of transport policies, infrastructure and service improvements and/or understanding and mitigating the impacts of development. You must be able to build and maintain productive relationships with key stakeholders such as local planning authorities and developers and be able to influence others in order to make a positive contribution to the quality of life in our communities.
