Transport for the North is looking to recruit the following role:

The Principal Policy and Strategy Development Officer will act as Transport for the North's (TfN's) primary specialist in a role that is critical to TfN’s corporate and programme developments. supporting the delivery of the Strategic Transport Plan and its policy positions. You will be expected to build strong relationships, internally and externally and be able to influence, shape and challenge across the strategy and policy sphere.

You will also be responsible for initiating and co-ordinating the development and implementation of new and existing initiatives, shaping TfN’s on-going evidence base development.                                                                                             

What we’re looking for:

The successful candidate will have significant experience of working across transport strategy and policy, working in complex situations and leading the development and approval of policies, strategies business cases. It is imperative that you also have a good understanding of national and regional policy context, transport policy and regulatory frameworks and experience of contract and procurement management.

As a confident communicator at senior level, you will have the ability to influence a wide range of stakeholders, partners and senior colleagues alongside representing TfN in public, professional and stakeholder forums. 

Candidates will preferably have a relevant master’s degree or other specialist post graduate qualification, or equivalent level reached through experience and a professional qualification at chartered status.
