Principal Transport Planner

£45,558 – £50,433 per annum fully inclusive

Slough Borough Council is pro-growth and supports the expansion of Heathrow. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead on the Borough’s response to surface access and transport proposals for the Development Consent Orders for the Western Rail link to Heathrow, and expansion at Heathrow Airport. You’ll be the dedicated principal transport planner in our new DCO team within the Council’s established Major Infrastructure department.

You’ll get to apply and develop your transport expertise to ensure we present a strong coherent case for Slough by ensuring surface access is integrated with the Council’s priorities and other social, economic and environmental issues. You will liaise across the Council with Members and officers to explain, engage and ensure Slough can participate effectively in the DCO process (and if permitted beyond) to deliver the best outcomes for our diverse communities, and built and natural environment.

We are looking for an energetic team player who will work across the Council to ensure we can shape Scheme Development and operation to mitigate the impacts with a positive legacy for our residential and business communities. The suitable candidate will be an accomplished transport planner with an interest in or experience of DCO projects and / or major planning applications. You’ll have experience or practical knowledge of planning policy, master planning, transport assessments, and other social, economic and environmental impacts and opportunities.
