Transport Planner (Transportation)

London Borough of Tower Hamlets

Transport Planner (Transportation)
Salary £38,148 - £45,381
Grade I-J
Permanent
Closing date August 8th 2022

Tower Hamlets is serious about dealing with the transportation challenges it faces, which include congestion, poor air quality, road danger and physical inactivity and roads in the borough are some of the busiest in the country. With the Elizabeth Line now serving the borough alongside rail, tube, DLR and an extensive bus network, and Santander Cycles the opportunities for change are substantial.

We have invested in creating new professional and technical teams in the growing Highways & Transportation Service to help tackle these issues and provide innovative and creative solutions that will direct the substantial financial investments secured to transform the public realm for the benefit of its unique and diverse community in the heart of the East End of London.

The exciting programmes that are currently being rolled out in the borough include School Streets, flagship high street improvements, LED street lighting replacement programme, Crossrail complementary measures, cycling provision, street tree planting and an extensive EV charging network.

If you are ambitious, talented, flexible and able to work collaboratively with diverse teams of colleagues to deliver some of these improvements, then come and join us on a journey to excellence that will make Tower Hamlets one of the best places in London to walk, cycle and use public transport.

We are looking for a Transport Planner to manage and provide the delivery of a range of professional and technical services for the Transport Planning Team including developing and implementing transport strategies (including the Tower Hamlets Transport Strategy and it’s supporting delivery plans), policies, models, Local Implementation Plan (LIP), bidding for and securing funding, travel planning and a variety of active and sustainable travel behaviour change projects and lead the delivery of commissions ensuring they are in accordance with the corporate, strategic and Mayoral priorities.

We also have a range of roles available within the Transportation Group that will enable you to shape and deliver a wide range of projects, from public realm enhancements and EV charging points, to helping young people travel healthily to school to developing transport policies for a new Local Plan.
