Public Transport Team Leader
Salary: £41,846 - £44,697
Closing Date: 13th March 2019
To lead on public transport policy, strategy, implementation and related operational and management activities.
To support Leicester City Council in operating with creativity and drive for the benefit of Leicester and its people.
Develop overarching strategies and policies relating to current and future provision of mass transit public transport.
Manage bus service infrastructure and systems including bus stations, passenger information, smart ticketing and bus lane enforcement.
Develop public transport improvement plans e.g. information systems, network coverage, bus service punctuality and service optimisation.
Encourage modal shift in travel and transportation in support of air quality improvements, public health & wellbeing objectives by the provision of attractive public transport services.
Support the economic growth of the city by developing a comprehensive, efficient and effective mass transit public transport system.
Manage, support and develop a diverse team of 22 professional and operational staff in a public facing service plus external contractors and manages budget(s) totalling approximately £10m, and other financial and material resources.
Interpret and advise on new transport related legislation.
Requirements of the post:
A thorough knowledge and understanding of the legal framework governing the provision of public transport.
Knowledge and awareness of bus service provision and management including ticketing, information and bus lane enforcement systems and procedures.
Experience of communicating management reports and information in presentations, reports and verbally.
Experience of developing policy, strategy and action plans.
Experience of /managing a team of professionals supervising and coaching/developing other less experienced staff/ partners.
Experience of using, updating, developing spreadsheet, e-mail, presentations, web, database applications for own/other peoples’ use (Desirable).
