Make an impact on local communities
From operating waste facilities and registration offices, to maintaining roads and major infrastructure planning, the services delivered by the Communities, Economy and Transport department at East Sussex County Council have an enormous impact on the lives of local people and the natural environment.
Our Transport Hub is responsible for providing a range of high quality, good value transport services across East Sussex. This includes public bus services, dedicated home-to-school transport services and specialist transport solutions for vulnerable adults. We help public transport services to change and adapt to infrastructure and demands by, for example, supporting the introduction of real-time passenger information at bus stops or re-routing services around roadworks.
Get your career in transport moving
This is an opportunity to build your knowledge and understanding of the local authority transport sector by working as part of a dedicated team of professionals. It’s a varied and fast-paced role, helping to co-ordinate safe, reliable home-to-school transport for over 3,000 school pupils countywide. Providing advice and information to a range of internal and external customers, you’ll also be able to develop skills in contract management and project management, and will learn how to collect, analyse and use management information.
We’re looking for someone who’s committed to ensuring our customers receive a high quality, joined-up service that represents good value for money. Bring us ICT skills and some customer service experience and we’ll provide all the support you need to develop. As well as being a great team player, you’ll be a strong communicator who is well-organised and self-motivated with good problem-solving skills.
In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a wide range of benefits including:
• relocation costs up to £8,000 (offered in exceptional cases)
• interest-free loan for rental deposit
• car lease scheme
• access to outstanding training and development pathway
