£32,910 - £34,728
Full Time, Fixed Term for 18 months
Ref: VAC001733

Bristol is a vibrant, exciting, diverse European city to live and work in. Come and help shape its future.

The city has ambitious plans to deliver improved transport infrastructure, both in the city but within the wider region. These plans include;
• Implementation of a Clean Air Zone;
• Developing Mass Transit options for the city;
• Supporting the rollout of a council-owned charge point network to enable cleaner transport to meet our carbon neutrality target of 2030;
• Transforming our local communities through the development of ‘Liveable Neighbourhoods’;
• Build on our success as Cycling City to further develop and implement a world class walking and cycling network in the city;
• Trialling and testing new transport technologies through our ‘Future Transport Zones’ programme of work.

The focus on sustainable travel measures has been brought into sharp focus in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and as such the city needs to move quickly and agilely.

Bristol sits within a strong economic area, working with its neighbouring cities and towns to maximise economic growth through the West of England Combined Authority, West of England Local Enterprise Partnership and Western Gateway. Bristol continues to punch above its weight nationally, growing its economy by nearly 20% (Gross Value Added) between 2009 and 2014, making Bristol’s economy second only to London.

We are seeking to appoint a Project Manager, to work in the Transport Service, to help support the delivery of the above plans.

You will be working with multi-disciplinary teams, both within the Council, but more widely within the sub-region, as well. You will lead, and work closely with, a range of experts and specialists such as transport planners, engineers, modellers, and consultants to ensure positive outcomes in delivering a healthier Bristol.

You will be responsible for managing relationships, expectations, and outcomes, not only internally with colleagues and experts, but externally with businesses, stakeholders, the public, interest groups, politicians, and local councillors in the wider West of England Combined Area.

Why Bristol City Council?
At Bristol City Council, we go that extra mile for our people; we offer a work environment which is fast moving and supportive, giving you the chance to use your skills and develop new ones within a high-profile organisation.

In addition to these roles, we offer a full range of employee benefits and opportunities including flexible working hours; a competitive annual and flexi-leave entitlement; entry into the Local Government Pension scheme; mobile working; childcare vouchers; and discounts towards the cost of sustainable travel, as well as training opportunities to enhance your technical and professional skills as you progress within the organisation.

How do I apply?
If you share our values and are ready to be part of our exciting journey, please select the apply button.

For permanent Bristol City Council employees, this post will be a secondment.
For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to.
If you are currently a casual worker or a member of an employment agency (currently working with Bristol City Council) this post will be a fixed term contract.

Closing date: 12 October 2021.
