The York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority was established in 2024 and is a public sector organisation with the powers and funding to improve transport, support housing delivery, boost skills, grow the economy and help the region transition to net zero. The Mayor also has responsibilities for Policing, Fire and Crime. By bringing together the strengths of our vibrant city and rural communities, the Combined Authority is making a long-term commitment to creating a stronger, safer and more prosperous future for York and North Yorkshire.
The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of how children, young people and families travel across York and North Yorkshire. Working with schools, local authorities and partners, you will lead initiatives that encourage more walking, wheeling and cycling, helping to improve health, reduce congestion and support our ambitions for a safer, more sustainable transport network.
You will play a key role in developing and delivering innovative programmes that inspire behaviour change, create lasting partnerships and support the Mayor’s vision for active travel. Through your work, you will help create environments where active travel is the natural choice for everyday journeys and contribute to making York and North Yorkshire one of the best places in the country for people of all ages to walk, wheel and cycle.
