The Transport Policy team are looking to appoint a Transport Planner with a specific focus on sustainable transport and active travel, particularly on the development of Leeds cycle network. The post is full time (37hrs per week), on a permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for somebody with a real passion and enthusiasm for sustainable transport to join a local authority with the objective to build a city where you don’t need a car. Leeds is ambitious and looking to respond to the climate emergency by building upon recent successes such as the City Connect programme and continue to provide the highest quality infrastructure that enables more people to walk and cycle and we want a candidate that reflects that ambition and quality.

The ideal candidate will have expert understanding of modern designs standards and challenges to help influence and guide infrastructure projects. They will have the ability to communicate effectively through various methods and be able to forge strong and honest working relationships with key stakeholders and users groups. They must also be proactive in their approach.

HNC/D or equivalent level qualification relevant to the duties of the post is required. A post graduate qualification in transport planning or an accredited professional qualification in a field of relevance to the post is desirable but not essential. Candidates with alternative further education qualifications who are able to demonstrate a number of years practical experience of direct relevance to the post will be considered.
