The Role:
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Transport Planner to join an ambitious and forward-looking team, focused on developing transport improvement schemes that will deliver our vision for the future of transport in Hampshire. This is an exciting time to join Hampshire County Council, as we seek to develop and deliver innovative schemes that will contribute towards the objectives of our new draft Local Transport Plan (LTP4), which marks a step change in transport policy in Hampshire.
This role will be responsible for scheme development and overseeing the successful transition of a project from concept to a feasible scheme that can be handed to colleagues for delivery. This will include developing a robust evidence base; undertaking scoping and optioneering; developing the preferred design; business case and funding bid preparation; managing multi-disciplinary project teams; and liaising with a wide range of stakeholders.
The role sits within a supportive and professional team, working collaboratively with colleagues from a variety of disciplines. Within Strategic Transport we are seeking to develop transformational schemes that: support the implementation of LTP4 and shift away from planning for vehicles, towards planning for people and places; meet national priorities to decarbonise the transport system; reduce reliance on private car travel; support sustainable economic development and regeneration; and promote active lifestyles.
