You would be the council's specialist transport practitioner working within a creative placemaking team of planners, landscape architects and technicians to lead and influence sustainable transport policies, projects and initiatives.

Job Description
As the City Council's transport specialist you would have a broad remit to work across the disciplines of transport planning, scheme design and behaviour change rather than being confined to working within a narrower transport discipline. This will require an ability to understand the connections between policy and detailed implementation.

The role will involve shaping local transport policy, working on policy initiatives arising from the Transport for Norwich Strategy, providing advice on major planning applications, implementing simple streetscape improvements and helping staff to travel more healthily, affordably and efficiently. You will work closely with officers at Norfolk County Council on many areas of work.

This will require substantial experience of working in a sustainable transport planning environment and a degree in a transport related discipline. The ability to influence people and negotiate well thorough effective communication will be essential to complement your authoritative knowledge of transport.
