Based within the Growth Delivering Prosperity (GDP) Team supporting the wider council’s regeneration, growth and infrastructure programme. This innovative, multidisciplinary team comprises of infrastructure programme delivery, transport strategy and policy, development control, water and flood management and town centre regeneration.
We are looking to appoint a number of graduates across our regeneration and highways services to contribute to delivering this ambitious programme. Projects you will be involved in include:
• Transport planning – involvement in town centre transformation including design and delivery of a new bus station, development of a high-quality walking and cycling network for the borough, development and submission of bids to secure capital funding, roll-out of electric vehicle infrastructure, production of Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping
• Flooding / Environment – Sustainable drainage systems (SDS) applications reviews, performance monitoring and evaluation, and support with section 19 flood investigation reporting, site visits and GIS mapping.
• Major schemes & town centre management – attend and facilitate customer and wider stakeholder engagement meetings/events with project support officers, support scheme delivery and funding bid developments, administration support with programme and contractual management, ensuring quality schemes are delivered on time and budget.

We will provide you with key development opportunities in the transport planning, programme management, and regeneration and growth professions within a local government context, supporting career development and aiding succession planning within the Team.
As part of the post, and in addition to development in technical specialisms, you will be enrolled on St Helens Borough Council’s management training course, helping you to develop the skills you’ll need to progress in your future career.
