About The Role
To assist with the development, implementation and evaluation of transport projects as delegated to the postholder by the Senior Project Officer.
Working as part of multidisciplinary project teams, you’ll collaborate with colleagues across the directorate to ensure our services are fully integrated and always put our communities first. Your role will also involve coming up with innovative ways to tackle a range of local issues.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To work effectively as part of the Council’s Capital Projects & Network Management team, delivering corporate objectives through the work of the department.
2. To lead on undertaking all necessary administration (record keeping and stakeholder communications), reporting (oral and written to internal and external stakeholders), monitoring & evaluation (including data analysis and presentation) of the projects allocated to the post holder.
3. To maintain at all times accurate project management and financial records required by the Council and other funding bodies for audit purposes. To comply with the Council’s financial standing orders and tenders and procurement regulations and facilitate all internal and external approvals necessary to deliver the allocated projects. To support the Team Leader as required in presenting such projects to senior management and Councillors.
4. To assist with building and maintaining good working relationships with other relevant Council departments and officers, TfL, NHS Hounslow, Local Strategic Partnership, schools, employers, faith groups, and other community groups and to raise the profile of sustainable transport locally. This will include working effectively internally across council departments, and externally in partnerships, to identify opportunities for joint initiatives and new sources of funding.
Your Skills:
1. Ability to manage projects successfully with a good working understanding of practical risk, financial and performance management techniques.
2. Good written and verbal communications skills; an ability to summarise complex proposals into non-technical language and draft clear, concise, and accurate reports and an ability to present information and projects for consideration clearly, concisely and persuasively.
3. Ability to research and process technical and/or legislative guidance and use findings to inform recommendations or options for a given project or scheme, so that projects meet any relevant standards or requirements.
4. Good ICT skills, preferably experience of using Microsoft Applications, such as Outlook, Excel and Word, and CAD. GIS skills are desirable.
Professional Qualifications
1. No essential qualifications are required for this role if all essential employee specification provisions are met.
2. Graduate level Transport Planning or Engineering qualification/ or other sector specific qualification desirable but not essential.
