They will be able to persuade and communicate effectively with politicians, key stakeholders and the public, and able to manage their own team, project teams and consultants effectively.
Cambridgeshire is a fast growing county and faces many transport challenges. In the south of the county, the Greater Cambridge City Deal provides a real opportunity to change the way people travel to and around the city, A key challenge is to ensure that the significant transport demand associated with growth does not change the city for the worse. New demand for transport must be catered for sustainably, building on local strengths including the very high cycling levels seen in and around the city, and the Park & Ride and Busway systems. The challenges in the more rural north of the county are varied, and the role of transport as an enabler for improved economic performance, wider opportunities for social mobility and access to jobs and services is key.
The role includes the development of transport programmes for the Greater Cambridge City Deal and for the Enterprise Partnership's Strategic Economic Plan. This role will also advise on transport and infrastructure matters on the strategic networks managed by Network Rail and Highways England. It will lead on key projects and scheme development on these networks including the securing funding to support delivery where such projects meet local objectives.
