Workbase: Usually this role is based in Parkhouse, Carlisle but due to COVID-19, it will involve homeworking/working from home.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated person to join us within our Highways Service, as a Traffic Signals Officer. This is a vital role, managing the signals Cumbria County Council have throughout the County, to reduce congestion and to provide safe crossing points for all road users.

About the role
As Traffic Signals Officer you will assist in the monitoring and performance of Cumbria County Councils traffic signals infrastructure, providing technical advice and support to other teams within the service. This role is also key to communication with Council Members and the public.

The role will include investigating any reported faults and taking the appropriate action to rectify any issues, quickly and effectively. Other elements of the role will include, planning and organising projects, updating records of data systems, determining compliance with the Councils policies and regulatory frameworks and ensuring their application while also supporting the management in the production of performance data and analyses, covering all of the operation of signalised facilities.

You will always represent the County Councils best interests by ensuring effective communication and collaboration both within the Council and with external organisations.

Who we are looking for
We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled candidate, confident in dealing with contractors, customers, and service providers, with a working knowledge of standards, specifications, systems, guidelines, regulations, policies, and legislation.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in project, asset or performance management and have the ability to work flexibly. We are looking for someone who wants to make a real difference with innovative ideas to achieve a greater more effective service delivery, with the ability to then drive this throughout the County.
