Data and Modelling Manager
£51,201 - £55,925
Transport for the South East is the sub-national transport body (STB) for the South East of England. Our partnership brings together 16 local transport authorities, five local enterprise partnerships, 46 district and borough authorities and a wider range of stakeholders from the worlds of transport, business and the environment. Together, we’re dedicated to creating an integrated and sustainable transport system that makes the South East more productive and competitive, improves the quality of life for all our residents, delivers carbon emission reductions and protects and enhances our unique natural and built environment.
Our thirty-year strategy sets out how investment in better, more sustainable transport can help grow our region’s economy, create new jobs, increase opportunity and quality of life, and hit net-zero carbon emissions. We are in the process of producing our strategic investment plan (SIP); a 30 year blueprint for investment in large scale transport infrastructure in the South East. This will empower the South East to clearly communicate to Government its investment priorities and will formalise the relationship with delivery bodies, including Network Rail and National Highways, so that TfSE can inform their investment programmes based on the requirements of communities, passengers, businesses and decision-makers across the region.
We are recruiting a number of key roles to help us on the next stage of the journey and to support the implementation of our SIP.
Our new Data and Modelling Manager will be responsible for developing our analytical framework that will contain the evidence base to support our implementation of our SIP. You will be responsible for leading the modelling and analysis of South East’s transport network and will have a strong track record of developing and applying modelling and data analytics solutions. You will be responsible for managing the Data and Analytics Officer.
You will be expected to have an understanding of the transport sector and strategic transport planning both nationally and within a local authority. This includes the areas of rail, road, bus, active travel and the current drive to decarbonise the sector.
This role will work closely with stakeholders on a national and regional basis – working across boundaries to ensure that transport investment decisions are based on sound evidence and data. The post holder will be expected influence analysts at the Department for Transport and local authorities to make the case for investment in key projects.
To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to effectively manage, prioritise and organise your workload, and work under pressure to meet competing deadlines. You must have a strong understanding of data, analytics and modelling tools, and must have demonstrable experience of communicating data and intelligence effectively to a broad range of audiences.
If you believe you have what it takes and want to be part of shaping this organisation, we want to hear from you.
