Active Travel Manager
£46,549 to £49,590
The South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (MCA) brings together the local authorities of Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield and the private sector through the Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP). These bodies together serve the communities and businesses of South Yorkshire. From transport to housing, from business growth to skills, the MCA has a great story to tell. We have ambitions to deliver economic growth and prosperity for people, businesses, and places across South Yorkshire.
We are looking for an Active Travel Manager who will play an active part in the delivery of the region’s strategic active travel ambitions, working with the Active Travel Director and Active Travel Commissioner to deliver our ambitious active travel agenda.
The role will actively support the development of active travel investments on behalf of SYMCA and the constituent local authorities, assessing proposals and helping progress project and scheme design to the highest standards. Acting as a priority point of contact for project sponsors and other local and regional partners and providing the interaction with Active Travel England, building strong relationships and working collaboratively to progress schemes through the design process to maximise funding opportunities.
Effective communication will be crucial to success in the role, as will stakeholder management, as you’ll frequently be involved in liaising across many levels with our local transport authorities, Government departments and infrastructure owners and providers.
You will think creatively and implement solution and outcome focussed problem solving with an ability to initiate and manage change through advice, influence and collaboration.
In return, we offer a competitive salary, hybrid working, access to a local Government Pension Scheme and the chance to be part of an organisation where you can really make a difference. Located in a vibrant city centre location, we are well-placed for transport links and encourage employees to take advantage of a range of benefits, including active travel facilities. We believe in a healthy work/life balance.
If you have any questions about the role or would like an informal discussion, please contact John Lamb, Interim Director of Strategic Transport via Claire Duckenfield ([email protected]).
