About us
Camden is building somewhere everyone can thrive, by making our borough the best place to live, work, study and visit. Because, we’re not just home to UK’s fast-growing economy. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today. And we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Here’s where you can help decide a better future for us all. As a Transport Planner you will help deliver strategic Healthy Streets projects and implement key aspects of the Camden Transport Strategy.

The role
This is an exciting opportunity to help project manage several “Healthy Streets” projects within neighbourhoods across Camden. In this role you will be responsible for supporting project management activities across all aspects of Healthy Streets scheme development in order to ensure delivery of a rolling programme of schemes on time and to budget.

These schemes range from localised road safety, bus priority, walking and cycling interventions and our “Streateries” scheme, and supporting the delivery of our programme of “Healthy School Streets” and other localised traffic restriction measures. Together these initiatives help deliver healthier streets and travel in our local neighbourhoods.

In developing these schemes the role will help link neighbourhood-based Healthy Streets projects to wider improvements to our public realm and the climate emergency, for example through the introduction of urban greening, pocket parks and other similar measures.

This role will also assist in securing improvements for walking, cycling and bus priority in the Borough, for example by supporting the development of funding bids for Healthy Streets projects.

For more detailed information please refer to the job profile.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have good understanding and experience of the policy and statutory framework within which Healthy Streets, transport planning and related activities operates.

You will be able to demonstrate effective project management experience – delivering schemes on time and to budget - and have the ability to develop strong stakeholder relations, including liaising with all relevant external organisations.

You will be able to demonstrate effective partnership working and the ability to develop strong stakeholder relations, including liaising with all relevant external organisations.

To ensure success in this role, you will need to have a good understanding and appreciate of issues specifically around streetscape design, accessibility and sustainability.

You will be able to help prepare high quality papers and reports for Council Committees, public meetings and other bodies such as appeals and public inquiries (may be required to attend such events as and when necessary).

The role will part of our “hybrid” working arrangements with some remote homeworking and some time each week based in the office at 5 Pancras Square, with site visits and external meetings as required.
