Do you want a fantastic opportunity to support the Communities of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight? Could you manage and deliver critical and technical fleet support to the frontline services of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service (HIWFRS)?

If the answer is yes, then we have a great opportunity to lead and manage the fleet maintenance operations for HIWFRS.

The maintenance and care of fleet vehicles and equipment assets is carried out across the 62 HIWFRS sites. Dedicated maintenance facilities are located in Eastleigh and Newport with a total team size of approximately 30 members of staff.

As the Fleet Maintenance Manager within the Operational Assets function, you will lead multi-disciplined technical teams to deliver safe, effective, compliant, and consistent maintenance activities for a large number of both heavy (LGV) and light fleet vehicles and operational equipment assets to meet the operational and business requirements of the Service.

Fleet Maintenance - delivery of:

• Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight to over 600 heavy and light fleet vehicle assets combined. This includes vehicles that are driven under emergency response conditions
• Specialist maintenance of supporting fleet items to include firefighting ladders, extrication equipment, water pumping equipment and various portable engine or battery powered assets
• Installation of emergency response and communications systems
• Vehicle conversation and refurbishment works
• Technical and logistical support to operational incidents
• Post incident support and asset repair and repatriation.

We are looking for an individual with excellent leadership qualities, relevant technical expertise, and fleet support managerial experience, to bring passion and offer innovation whilst leading and developing teams to excel, as they manage the delivery of services and projects within a large and diverse organisation.

Interested candidates must excel at building effective relationships with peers, users, suppliers, and partners of the fleet support function and be willing to participate in a (one week in four) on-call rota system to provide managerial and technical support outside of standard business hours attracting an additional on-call allowance for completing this duty.
