Salary – £48,000 - £56,000 (depending on skills, knowledge and experience)

Take responsibility for the sponsoring of major TfL projects

London is a world-class city that’s home to 8.6 million people and visited every year by 19 million more. Keeping it working, moving and growing is a huge challenge, but one that TfL rises to every day. Our Major Projects team leads the sponsorship of the largest, most complex projects including rolling stock programmes on the DLR and Piccadilly Lines, major signalling upgrades of the sub-surface railway, and major extensions such as the Silvertown Tunnel, the Bakerloo Line extension and the DLR extension to Thamesmead.

Help to drive the delivery of the next generation of major projects
Join us in this exciting, fast-moving role and you’ll touch every corner of our business, working as an integral part of our matrix project delivery teams as you focus on driving the best possible outcomes. Responsible for the development and delivery of the current and next generation of major projects at TfL, you’ll support and challenge our suppliers, and be highly collaborative as you empower and motivate our project teams. You’ll also make sure that we learn lessons from the monitoring and evaluation of the things we do as you help us make the right investment decisions.

This is an opportunity to make your mark on the way we run London’s transport system as you lead the design and development of major projects, effectively managing stakeholders to develop requirements and maximise benefits. Building and presenting an evidence base to inform and support decision-making throughout the project lifecycle, it’ll be your task to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of our major projects and their various elements.

Use all your expertise and knowledge
To be a success in this role you’ll have a degree or equivalent experience, and possess the ability to negotiate the way forward while working in a complex, highly dynamic project environment. Capable of helping us understand the key issues associated with the scope, requirements and design of major projects, you’ll make informed recommendations on important investment decisions, and communicate these to a diverse range of stakeholders. With the ability to apply business case, appraisal and evaluation methodologies to support case making and prioritisation, you’ll be highly numerate and organised with good IT skills. Capable of identifying and applying proportionate analytical approaches, and interpreting complex information to make effective decisions, you’ll also be ready to negotiate the project and business level requirements which define successful outcomes.
