Transport for the North is England’s first Sub-National Transport Body. We were legally formed in April 2018 to transform the transport system across the North of England, providing the infrastructure needed to drive economic growth. As a partnership, we bring together the North’s nineteen local transport authorities and business leaders together with Network Rail, Highways England, and HS2 Ltd and working with Central Government. We enable the North to speak with one voice on the transport infrastructure investment needed to drive transformational growth and rebalance the UK economy.

Our Strategic Rail team play an important role in this future and the future of rail services leading TfN’s input into current service operations including delivery, performance, overseeing TfN’s input to timetable development and train services across the North of England leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.

Role Overview: Lead on the co-ordination of digital initiatives in the context of TfN members’ aspirations and national policy.

Projects developed using digital technologies will enable delivery of dynamic, responsive, multi-modal, fit for purpose and customer-centric fares, payment and information services.

What we’re looking for:
The successful candidate will possess extensive knowledge and experience of leading digital payment and information (technological and business) process architecture, analysis and design.

The ideal candidate will be a natural self-starter, with significant experience in approaches to the design of ticketing, information and payment services, combined with an ability to interpret complex data from diverse sources used to inform, lead and enable the development of TfN’s digital payments and information strategy in alignment with TfN’s Long Term Rail Fares Strategy.

As the Strategic Rail Stakeholder Lead for Digital strategy, development and roll out, you will use your expertise to develop strong and productive working relationships with industry bodies, supplier markets, developers and DfT teams, whilst partnering with multiple stakeholders, external partners and stakeholders across the North of England and nationally to lead the development and delivery of user centred digital services.

You will be tenacious with an ability to make difficult decisions and recommendations that influences others to achieve required outcomes and ensure robust strategy/business case development meets expectations.
