Veitch Lister Consulting (VLC) has an exciting new opening and is seeking expressions of interest from inquisitive and motivated individuals with a passion for transport and innovation who would enjoy the opportunity to help shape our future.
With a 35-year history, primarily based in Australia, we launched VLC Europe Ltd in February 2021 and are now looking to expand our team. In establishing our new frontier, we were thrilled to secure the expertise of Tom van Vuren, a well-respected industry figure who leads the team as Regional Director UK & Europe.
VLC is a multi-disciplinary advisory firm, specialising in transport planning, analytics and modelling, policy and economics, and data science and visualisation. With our data and evidence-led approach, we help clients to make planning and policy decisions which support the creation of livable and connected communities.
We are industry leaders in strategic modelling and develop and maintain our own models. This gives us a unique value proposition in delivering a wide range of projects including strategic modelling application and development, planning studies, economic analysis, and business case preparation for both public and private sector clients.
Our culture is fast-paced and innovative, where professional development is encouraged and supported. With family-friendly values, we respect personal and parental leave commitments and offer flexible working arrangements that can be requested at any time.
Supporting our Regional Director UK & Europe, you will assist us in growing our brand while delivering services and solutions to our clients across the UK, Europe and other parts of the world.
The position offers the potential for an exciting blend of business development, project management and specialist technical delivery. Our current areas of work include activity- and agent-based modelling, business case support for major highway and public transport projects, the development and application of transport and land use modelling tools, many with open access components, and the marketing of our data analytics and visualisation tool Planwisely.
This is an excellent opportunity that could appeal to individuals at various stages in their career, and we welcome applications across a wide range of seniorities. We are flexible with where you choose to work within the UK and support home-based working arrangements.
Our ideal candidate will be a strong communicator and enjoy both business development and technical delivery. As a motivated self-starter, you will have the knowledge and drive required to grow a network of contacts that you feel confident using to further VLC’s business objectives.
You will be able to take a lead during this growth period as you utilise your passion for technical and commercial outcomes within a multi-disciplinary professional environment.
Highly desired skills include:
• Knowledge of the UK transport planning, modelling and analysis market with active involvement in the delivery of methods and solutions by using up-to-date techniques, a wide variety of data sources and adhering to the relevant standards (such as TAG).
• Appreciation of delivering transport modelling and analytics solutions within the commercial and private sector environment.
• Experience in the use of commercial off the shelf transport modelling software packages but also of programming in supporting languages and environments. We value skills in Python, R, C++. Practical experience in estimating choice models with packages such as ALogit, Biogeme or Larch is a definite advantage.
We don’t expect you to have all the above attributes and welcome applications from individuals with a range of experiences and skills.
All applications will be accepted via our website at www.veitchlister.com/join-us
