We are looking for an experienced transport planner to join our national Cities, Space and Development Planning team. Based in our Cambridge office, you will be involved in delivering an interesting and varied portfolio of projects locally, nationally and beyond. You will be required to liaise with Clients, work as part of multidisciplinary teams and manage your own work as follows:

• Managing development planning projects – feasibility studies, transport assessment, junction modelling, post-planning application negotiations;
• Environmental Assessment;
• Preparing Travel Plans and Sustainable Access Strategies;
• Public realm, space planning and masterplanning experience is desirable but not essential.

Our Cambridge office is currently providing planning advice to a range of Clients for exciting and high profile school, housing, and commercial and mixed use developments. They have recently been influential in the securing of planning permission for Chesterton Transport Interchange and Ely Southern Bypass, are working on City Deal Schemes within Cambridgeshire and are the lead Transport Consultant for a significant housing developer.
The Cambridge office is a busy and multi-disciplinary office which provides an excellent working environment close to the City Centre (with parking)! Cambridge’s historic environment is a great place to live and work with excellent schools and facilities, but the historic streets are very narrow and the population is quickly growing, meaning the skills of transport planners will always be required!

We are looking for a Transport Planner to bring Senior level experience to our Cambridge Cities, Space & Development Planning team who is adaptable and able to work on often fast paced development projects. You will have good experience of preparing transport assessments and other key planning documents in a Consultancy environment and will already be managing projects, or keen to take on the challenge of doing so.

Essential Criteria
• Appropriate academic and professional qualifications (minimum of degree qualified).
• Good experience of delivering projects in a Transport Planning Consultancy.
• Strong technical competency in areas of Development Planning work including Transport Assessments and Statements, junction modelling, Travel Planning and transport chapters of environmental impact assessments.
• Project Management experience is desirable but not essential.
• Excellent report writing, other written and numerical presentation skills.
• Strong communicator, both within Atkins’ teams and when in a client environment.
