Salary: Grade 11, £40,760 - £44,632 per annum

Your role:

This newly created position is an exciting opportunity for an experienced transport planner who is looking to progress their career in a high-profile role.

You will ensure that Wigan has the right transport strategies in place including influencing strategic and neighbouring organisations. You will contribute to the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework, prepare local plans, policies and guidance and help guide and assist neighbourhood plans.

You will work closely with the Development Management Service to help them approve planning applications that are right for Wigan Borough and will work with others to maintain and improve travel choices and improve air quality.

About you:

You will be an effective and proven transport planner who is a self-starter, highly motivated, organised and enthusiastic about transport and its role in place-making, with a passion to deliver an effective and responsive transport planning function. This role will play a key part in the delivery of the Deal 2030 and the growth of Wigan Borough.

You will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability and confidence to work well in partnership and collaboratively on highly complex matters, with other disciplines within the council and across organisational boundaries, to advance the borough’s best interests.
