We are currently recruiting talented individuals to help deliver transport planning projects for our expanding client base. With over 300 specialists in our Transport Planning business, we have the flexibility and resources to provide our clients with an extensive range of services including transport policy and strategy planning, traffic modelling, scheme appraisal, travel demand management, scheme design and development planning.
The Role
Our Transportation division is recruiting Transport Planners for our Transport Planning business. Specifically, we are seeking Transport Planners at all levels of experience to primarily, but not exclusively lead on the delivery of transport planning projects on our major Local Authority professional services contracts in the South East of England with both Hampshire County Council and Portsmouth City Council. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who wish to contribute to shaping and growing a high performing, dynamic team, working seamlessly across our national business. We cover all aspects of multidisciplinary design and management from inception to options appraisal through to detailed scheme design and delivery support. Our transport planners support our clients in findings the best outcomes for their transport challenges. We develop innovative solutions and advise on everything from project costs and benefits to the best options to unlock investment.
You will lead and / or work as part of large project teams with responsibilities for scoping and undertaking technical transport planning tasks, interfacing with other teams/disciplines, contributing to reporting and client and stakeholder engagement, development of future work as well as the mentoring and personal development of team members.
The role will be full time. Atkins’ home office will be Aldershot, but the role will involve working between our offices and the clients’ offices in Winchester and Portsmouth respectively. It will involve working with the South East Practice and wider national Transport Planning business to identify and secure work from Hampshire County Council and Portsmouth City Council in line with our priorities to grow our Transport Planning business. This will entail undertaking targeted business development activities, leading and contributing to tender submissions and promoting Atkins within the Authority.

The Candidate(s)
The successful candidate(s) will have a background in transport planning with experience in working across a range of projects for multiple clients. The candidate should have a broad range of transport planning skills covering strategic transport planning and policy, feasibility studies, business case development, sustainable transport and development planning as well as experience in working in multi-disciplinary teams. They should also have developing or proven project management experience and be comfortable in engaging with clients and stakeholders on transport projects.
