Southampton has an excellent track record in innovation in transport and with Connected Southampton, Green City Charter, and the Transforming Cities Fund programme, this is an exciting opportunity for creative individual to undertake the role of Senior Transport Planner - Policy within Southampton City Council’s Transport Policy Team. Here you will play a significant role in developing Southampton as a place people are proud of, and chose to live and work in. As part of the Transport Policy Team you will be responsible for assisting in developing, implementing and monitoring innovative and robust transport policies at a local, regional and strategic level for Southampton that provide a platform for strong and sustainable economic growth and help to improve people’s lives.
You will be tasked with developing high-level research and intelligence gathering on transport related issues, initiatives and options in support of the Council’s transport policies. Working across the Transport Policy Team you will play a key role in working with planning colleagues to ensure polices and developed and implemented alongside other Council plans including the City Local Plan and as new development comes forward.
You will need to be educated to a degree level of education with experience in the local transport planning field. With experience of developing and delivering strategic transport plans, policies and funding bids, working with a wide variety of stakeholders and understanding their views and of project management of complex transport studies.
You will be able to demonstrate complex analytical problem solving skills, ability to work in pressured environments, and have good communication and written skills.
