Transport & Development Officer (Career Grade)
Salary: Grade 7, £25,991 - £29,577 per annum.
37 hours per week

Your role:
This is a key role within the council’s planning and transport policy service contributing to the Transport Strategy, the Places for Everyone Plan and Local Plan, planning guidance including on Travel Plans, delivering travel planning through the development management process, HS2 through the hybrid bill process and growth strategy, GM Bus Service Reform in Wigan, developing transport schemes and progressing other bus and rail matters. You will prepare evidence, liaise with stakeholders and communities and progress plans to proactively help support growth and housing and meet the challenges of climate change and air quality in the borough.

About you:
You will be a positive and enthusiastic recent graduate planner or transport planner, or otherwise at an equivalent point in your career where this opportunity would suit, with a degree or Masters in town planning or transport planning, and be a student member of a relevant professional institute. You will able to apply knowledge and understanding of planning and transport, or transport planning, and it’s role in enabling growth and housing and achieving environmental sustainability, and an appreciation of the development process and viability issues. You will be creative, have good research and investigative skills, be a good communicator, self-organised and collaborative. You will help make good development happen.
