As a Senior Transport Planner in The Transport Planning Team you will be part of developing an electric vehicle strategy for Portsmouth including the delivery of a third phase of on-street residential chargepoints and Portsmouth's Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure capital allocation. You will be responsible for the provision of expert advice on transport and air quality issues particularly around electric vehicle charging infrastructure. You will be involved in the development policy and strategy and delivering transport-based solutions to addressing air pollution in the city. You will engage and consult with members, community groups and residents on air quality and transport planning issues addressing varied and complex queries/issues raised.

What you'll need to succeed
You will have a degree level education or demonstrable equivalent professional experience. You will have well-developed policy development skills, including skills for coordination, liaison and the ability to plan and monitor progress of policy interventions. You will also have experience of project management in transport/ highways.

You will be able to communicate messages (which may be complicated or sensitive) clearly, concisely and at a level appropriate to the audience, who may not be specialists in air quality or transport planning and you will be able to demonstrate high levels of verbal communication and reasoning, putting forward persuasive and compelling arguments.

You will be able to work independently and proactively, along with the ability to prioritise. You will also be able to make decisions and think through complex and conflicting issues and manage competing priorities.
