This is an exciting Transport Planning role in the Transport Planning and Policy Team. We are seeking an experienced and passionate Transport Planner who can shape our longer-term transport strategy. You will be responsible for drafting business cases for specific transport projects and coordinating the inputs. The post holder will formulate and revise a range of transportation policies and strategies, ensuring their alignment with partner organisations and stakeholder groups.
We are looking for someone who can champion the sustainable travel agenda, promoting a step change in our transport infrastructure. From the application of new legislative powers to transformational railway stations. We also have an ambitious Active Travel programme, to create new infrastructure and promote behavioural change to enable more walking and cycling.
You will need strong communication, influencing and problem solving skills aligned with excellent project management to be a key member of our team. This is an exceptional opportunity for career progression in an ambitious Local Authority.

This post operates under a Career Grade/Grading Assessment Scheme, with starting salary and progression through the grades being linked to experience, qualifications and level of work being undertaken.

From 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2024 employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a weekly / monthly deduction (dependent on pay frequency) from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded of three additional day’s leave (pro rata for part-time).
