Job Description

The Regional Growth Manager will play a key role in leading stakeholder engagement across the InterCity West Coast franchise, Britain's most important railway. We are looking for 4 new people to join the team to be based in Wales (x1), London and South Midlands (England's Economic Heartland) (x1), the West Midlands (x1) and the North of England (x1), the post holders will be responsible for helping to create a partnership railway that is easy for stakeholders to do business with. 

Working with colleagues from across the Partnership and Strategy Directorate and the wider West Coast Partnership (WCP) business (including the HS2 Shadow Operator and Avanti West Coast) the post holders will lead day to day engagement and build strategic relationships. They will facilitate partnerships between the private and public sectors, seek third party funding and develop business cases which will deliver rail enhancements such as greater rail capacity, accessibility and integration as well as improvements to the passenger experience and safety. 

Essentials:

- Lead day to day stakeholder engagement for your geographical area on behalf of the WCP franchise, including (if appropriate) with the devolved governments in Scotland and Wales (working with the Head of Government Partnerships) to facilitate easy access to the franchise

- Work with stakeholders to identify potential third-party funding streams, partnership opportunities and opportunities for securing external funding (through, for example, 'match' funding of schemes) to deliver mutually beneficial projects ranging from minor station changes to larger transformation schemes. There will be an expectation of securing six figure third party funding each calendar year.

- Chair internal regional working groups which will act on stakeholder and customer feedback.

- Work with colleagues to achieve objectives around Community Rail Partnerships; managing relationships and investment programmes with CRPs.

- Work with colleagues to achieve objectives around school outreach programmes, participating in school visits as needed.

- Manage external project working groups which will include devolved bodies and local authorities and be responsible for driving forward specific projects being delivered as part of the franchise.

- Support the senior leadership team by organising an annual programme of parliamentary drop-in events and conferences designed to engage parliamentarians and stakeholders in the WCP strategy including plans for HS2.

- The growth managers will provide secretariat support to two independently chaired West Coast Partnership Advisory Forums (each with a separate economic or transport focus) which will play a role in measuring the impact of the projects delivered.

- Work closely with other teams; for example, Station Development, Sustainability, and provide the media team with regular news content for positive publicity.

- Be an advocate for the benefits of HS2, working closely with the HS2 communications teams and the Head of HS2 Partnerships.

- This role has an on-call commitment.
