Keeping our county on the move
From operating waste facilities and registration offices, to maintaining roads and major infrastructure planning, the services delivered by the Communities, Economy and Transport department at East Sussex County Council have an enormous impact on the lives of local people and the natural environment.
Our Transport Hub is responsible for providing a range of high quality, good value transport services across East Sussex. This includes public bus services, dedicated home-to-school transport services and specialist transport solutions for vulnerable adults. We help public transport services to change and adapt to infrastructure and demands by, for example, supporting the introduction of real-time passenger information at bus stops or re-routing services around roadworks.
Keeping your career on the move
Joining our Transport Hub, you’ll have every opportunity to develop your leadership skills. Tasked with providing safe, reliable home-to-school transport for over 3,000 school pupils countywide, you will work in partnership with local transport operators. This includes overseeing contracts, managing projects, and collecting and analysing management information. You will also manage a team of dedicated transport professionals with a wealth of knowledge and experience in this sector.
As well as being an exceptional leader, you are a great communicator who works well in partnership. With a focus on home-to-school transport, you will need to be able to prioritise the work of your team to ensure we deliver a truly joined-up service. A good understanding of budget management and contract management is essential, as you and your team will need to work with a variety of transport operators to ensure our customers receive a quality service that represents good value for money.
In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a wide range of benefits including:
• relocation costs up to £8,000 (offered in exceptional cases)
• interest-free loan for rental deposit
• car lease scheme
• access to outstanding training and development pathway
We’re a family-friendly service which offers flexible working (in agreement with individual line manager) and a focus on wellbeing for all our staff, such as mindfulness training and counselling.
