About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join our Programme & Strategy team, as a Transport Projects Officer. In this role you’ll be assisting the Strategic Projects Manager to develop and deliver a range of projects, most of which form part of our emerging Parking and Kerbside Strategies. These include dockless e-bikes, car club expansion, urban greening, drinking water fountains, a school bus feasibility study, emissions-based charging, crossover policy, wayfinding and technology reviews.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience in the development and delivery of a diverse range of transport and parking projects, enhancing your project management, partnership working and communication skills in the process.

About The Team You’ll Be Working In
You’ll be working in the Programme & Strategy team, which sits within the Transport & Parking division. The team is responsible for delivering a number of the council’s strategic transport projects, as well as helping to monitor contracts, delivery and performance across the division.
A current focus is the development and delivery of a range of initiatives falling under the emerging Parking and Kerbside Strategy. The team is also responsible for a range of other strategic projects such the delivery of over 2000 new electric vehicle charging points.  These transformational projects play an important part in delivering the Council’s Corporate Plan and transport objectives.

About You

1. You have experience in project managing successful transport and/or parking projects in an urban setting. Through this experience you will have developed a good understanding of current best practice in the promotion of sustainable transport. You will have experience of strategy development, project design/delivery and/or behaviour change, ideally within a local government context.

2. You have experience in developing and leading partnership projects or services. This could be with other teams, local authorities, third sector stakeholders or businesses. You are a high performing individual who works collaboratively with others to achieve targets and service objectives. You also have the interpersonal, negotiation and organisational skills required to make these partnerships a success.

3. You have excellent written communication skills. This means you have the ability to clearly and concisely draft a range of different written documents, including reports, briefing notes, project briefs, fudding bids and correspondence. Key to this is being able to summarise complex proposals, often using non-technical language, that is suitable for a range of audiences. You will be able to executive this with minimal managerial input.

4. You possess excellent oral communication skills. You have the ability to present information and projects for consideration clearly, concisely and persuasively.

5. You are enthusiastic, approachable and act with integrity. This allows you to engage positively with colleagues, stakeholders and partners. You have a calm and clear approach to dealing with contentious and emotive issues to ensure the reputation of the team and council is maintained and ensure successful outcomes for our residents and community.
