Wiltshire Council

Wiltshire Council – Highways and Transport

Wiltshire Council delivers more than 350 services to the people of Wiltshire. Our vision is to build stronger communities and our EPIC values underpin what we do, what we stand for, and how we work.

The council is a great place to work - we offer a competitive, award-winning benefits package and a can-do culture where talented people thrive. Plus, with its stunning countryside and superb community spirit, Wiltshire is a fantastic place to live and work. It has a resilient economy, good schools, and one of the lowest crime rates in the country.

Being an inclusive organisation is one element of ‘Our Identity’ and our Inclusive Workforce Strategy sets out how we create an environment where everyone feels engaged and able to flourish, where we treat each other with respect, celebrating our differences and the value they bring.

A county as large and diverse as Wiltshire needs excellent connectivity. Our focus in the Highways and Transport Directorate is maintaining a safe, effective, and resilient network that supports our thriving economy, contributes to our sustainable environment and climate change objectives, and ensures people can easily access the services and facilities they need.

We lead on multi-million pound road improvement and Active Travel Schemes, maintain nearly 3000 miles of highway, rights of way, and cycle paths, and have maintained a healthy public transport network over the past 10 years and pride ourselves on our positive working relationships with commercial bus operators in the region.  We work across sectors, within the Council, and with strategic partners, to ensure our investment decisions are future-proofed and we are providing value for money for our stakeholders.

We are looking for dedicated and motivated individuals to help us deliver our objectives as part of the Council’s place making approach. Together we can maximise Wiltshire’s potential and ensure our communities are truly well connected.
