HS1 appoints Crowther as new CEO

Dyan Crowther (pictured) has been appointed new chief executive of High Speed 1, the railway between St Pancras International in London and the Channel Tunnel in Kent.

She replaces Nicola Shaw, who left High Speed 1 Ltd in May, and is expected to formally join the business in January 2017.

Crowther has spent the past two years as chief operating officer at Govia Thameslink. Over the past 30 years she has worked in senior roles at Network Rail, British Rail and Railtrack.

Hargreaves takes on new role at TfGM

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has appointed Kevin Hargreaves as key route network manager to oversee the strategic development and operational performance of the region’s major road network.

Hargreaves will be responsible for managing the implementation of strategies and programmes for the 600km road network across 10 local authority districts.

He will work in partnership with Highways England and local authorities to assist with the management of scheduled and unplanned events and incidents across the network.

Hargreaves was previously at Wigan Council where he was traffic manager with responsibility for a number of services, including network management, parking management and enforcement, roadwork co-ordination and highways development management.

Pringle joins Steer Davies Gleave

Consultancy Steer Davies Gleave has hired Simon Pringle as lead of integrated economic development practice. He joins as a director based in the north west of England working across the UK and Europe.

Pringle will be responsible for developing the firm’s wider economic development practice, using its experience of transport and movement to inform policy areas such as enterprise, knowledge, skills and governance. 

Pringle was previously a director and managing director at consultancy SQW.

Tasker new Stagecoach MD for Manchester bus operation 

Elisabeth Tasker has been appointed managing director of Stagecoach’s bus operations in Manchester and Wigan.

She is currently managing director of Stagecoach Merseyside and South Lancashire, and will take up the new post on 1 November.

Tasker takes over from Chris Bowles, who is stepping down from the role after a bus industry career spanning 42 years.
