This is an exciting opportunity to join Telford & Wrekin Council’s Highways Asset Management and Capital Programme Team to provide technical advice and support within the Transport and Highway Development Service area.

Telford a new town has its roots in the 1960s but this doesn’t mean we’re stuck in the past. Over the last 50 years the town has grown and developed into a hub of innovation and investment.

Telford & Wrekin Council is ambitious, always looking to develop, improve and attract investment. The Council has recently delivered a number of exciting projects including the new £250m Southwater Development and £12m Box Road Transport Scheme. Over the next three years the Council is embarking on a significant investment programme in the highways and transport network including:

£1.9m New Telford Bus Station

£17.3m Telford Growth Point Package

£3.6m M54 Junction 4

£12m Telford Town Centre Connectivity Package

£5m highways capital programme

As a Highways Asset Management Engineer you will support the Council’s transformation to a more asset management based approach to managing highway maintenance on the network. This will include developing the use of the Horizons asset management system across all highway and transport assets with the main emphasis on local carriageway and footway assets which have been valued at £1.2billion.

You will also develop long term strategies based on deterioration modelling, design and develop rolling multi-year programmes of carriageway and footway maintenance schemes, ensure that the highways asset inventory database is kept up to date, coordinate ongoing updates of all highway asset data in order to provide accurate information for Whole Government Accounting and use asset management principles and play a contributory role in developing and sustaining a long term highway maintenance strategy within the Council’s Highway Asset Management Plan (HAMP).

This is your opportunity to be at the forefront of delivering highways maintenance and asset management within the Borough to support the significant growth potential and support the creation of new housing and jobs.

We are committed to equality and diversity.

Closing date for applications is 5pm on Wednesday 29 June 2016.
