Transport plays a vital role in driving the Liverpool City Region’s (LCR’s) aims for economic growth, skills development, housing and regeneration. Merseytravel has key responsibilities as the transport advisor the the Combined Authority (CA) and as primary co-ordinator of transport operations in the LCR.  Merseytravel’s LTP and Policy Development Service area is responsible for the co-ordination and development of the LCR’s Transport Plan for Growth. This includes informing strategic decision making affecting Merseytravel, the LCR, CA and where applicable, Transport for the North and input into national transport issues.

The development of accurate and reliable evidence and intelligence underpins this function. We are seeking a suitable candidate with a numerate degree in economics, geography, transport planning, statistics or related field with at least 3 years’ relevant experience.  Excellent analytical skills are essential.

 

The key role of the post is to develop and provide the organisation with robust evidence and intelligence. This includes the ability to analyse complex data sets, utilise modelling data as well as the interpretation of results. The post holder will also assist in the evaluation of strategic schemes and policies including, Major Projects, City Region initiatives, corporate policies etc., utilising both quantitative and qualitative techniques. 

 

You will have a track record of working in partnership and will be able to work closely with stakeholders and partner organisations in developing strategies, programmes and evaluation of these.

 

Knowledge of the transport sector would be an advantage. Good communication and presentational skills will be key to success in this role along with the ability to present well researched evidenced based reports to Senior Management, Industry Partners and Authority Members.
