About the role

Working for a forward thinking borough, we’re looking for likeminded Design Engineers to join our innovative and creative design team. You’ll assist in the development, monitoring and review of scheme designs, programmes and projects for transport planning, traffic and parking within the Transport Strategy Service. You’ll provide expert technical advice on matters of scheme design, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and which deliver against council policies and priorities including improving road safety and encouraging greater levels of sustainable and active travel.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute towards interesting and challenging projects which will influence what the rest of London does and like us you won’t be afraid of trying out new ways of doing things.

About you

Your background could be an engineering degree or equivalent with post qualification experience over a number of years. Alternatively you’ll have corporate membership or incorporated status of a recognised professional engineering institution with some post qualification experience.

With a proven ability to produce highway designs using CAD, you’ll have experience of design and project management for schemes from small to medium size and value including budget management. In order to contribute towards an improved service, you’ll need some understanding of the key responsibilities and issues facing local government and have an understanding of highway design in an urban environment including design criteria, specifications and standards. Your success depends on having a can-do attitude, collaborative working style, and excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills to express complex information accurately and concisely.
