The Rail Delivery Group (RDG) was established in May 2011. It brings together Network Rail and passenger and freight train operating companies to lead and enable improvements in the railway. The purpose of the RDG is to enable Network Rail and passenger and freight train operating companies to succeed by delivering better services for their customers. Ultimately this benefits taxpayers and the economy. We aim to meet the needs of:

• Our Members, by enabling them to deliver better outcomes for customers and the country;
  
  
• Government and regulators, by developing strategy, informing policy and confronting difficult decisions on choices, and
  
  
• Rail and non-rail users, by improving customer experience and building public trust.

Railways in the UK have always been one of the best drivers for spreading wealth employment and economic growth.  HS2 is the next step on that journey and it is critical that HS2 is properly integrated with the existing railway.  This is an exciting new role in RDG that will  lead an coordinate activity to ensure that HS2 is fully integrated into the operations of the wider rail industry and the HS2 project is understood and supported by the rail industry as a whole. There are significant opportunities to grow in the role and wide a wide set of relationships to manage across the rail industry and within government.

Specific requirements include:

• Providing expert and comprehensive support for high speed rail;
  
  
• Effectively influencing internal and external stakeholders
  
  
• Co-ordinating the effective production of policy propositions to help shape the industry environment to allow RDG’s members to succeed by delivering better services for their customers; and
  
  
• Contributing to the high performance of the wider Policy team
