Senior Transport Planner

We are looking for a team-orientated, self-motivated individual to join our Transportation practice in Bahrain.

The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and communication skills as they will lead a team of transport planners for various traffic studies for large and small developments as well as major highway schemes in Bahrain. They will be responsible for preparing tenders, quotations and reports, liaising with clients and authorities and implementing QA/QC procedures. They will also be responsible for growing the transportation business within Bahrain and will interact with other teams in the region to expand its presence.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a postgraduate qualification in Transportation Engineering

Preferred qualities

• 12-15 years’ experience in the field of transportation modelling.
• Chartered status with a registered institute; if not, working to Chartered status is a necessity.
• Working knowledge of international standards. Experience of Gulf standards such as Dubai Trip Generation and Parking Rates Manual is preferred.
• Working knowledge of VISUM, VISIM, SYNCHRO and SYDRA software.
• Experience of managing a variety of medium to large transport study projects independently including development and highway schemes.
• Experience of using prescribed methods to perform the specific broader assignment of an experienced transport planner.
• Ability to apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjust and correlate data, recognise discrepancies in results, and follow operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.

Responsibilities

• Perform standard computations and analysis.
• Prepare supervise the preparation of drawings and visual aids.
• Perform and oversea basic survey work of the team.
• Run models, calculations and design software.
• Assignments usually include one or more of the following: calculations, preparation of plans and specifications, process study, research investigations, report preparation, and other activities of limited scope requiring knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in a specific narrow area of assignments.
• Conduct calculation checks.
• Prepare reports and minutes of meetings.
• Draw engineering conclusions for data analysis within area of technical proficiency.
• Work on small projects or portions of large projects, and checking of junior staffs work.
• Research and ensure assignments meet regulatory and industry codes, laws and requirements, as well as client requirements.
• Determine the permitting requirements for the particular type of work being designed for the location in which it is to be constructed.
• Assist in determining schedule and budget requirements.
• Under direction of a professional or suitably-experienced engineer, manage small tasks or portions of a larger project.

• Coordinate design with team members and other discipline leads.
• Meet with authorities and clients.
• Expand the transport business.
• Guide, advise and mentor junior staff.

Salary 3,200 – 3,800 Bahraini Dinar Per Month
