Nottingham City Council

Director of Traffic and Transport

Nottingham City Council, £80,248 - £91,705

Are you passionate about exemplary 21st Century City Transport?

Nottingham has huge ambitions for the future and this role will be instrumental in developing and delivering the traffic and transport infrastructure to support the regeneration of the City and its transformation into a World Class City.

The City has an enviable reputation as a leading Transport Authority built over many years through its innovative record, Workplace Parking Levy, new Tramlines, Electric buses, and so on. We’re looking for an expert Transport Leader who is enthusiastic and visionary with drive, determination and a track record of successful partnership working and customer focussed delivery. We are looking for candidates with proven senior and strategic experience, a high performer with a credible track record of success.

The Director of Traffic and Transport will lead a portfolio of services including Transport Strategy, Traffic & Safety and Public Transport. You will play a key role in shaping the future Nottingham Transport system and will lead in transforming the road space and transport links around the City and beyond, improving accessibility, fostering innovation and contributing to Nottingham’s ever growing position as a prosperous European City.

It’s no coincidence that Nottingham was recently named in the Guardian as one of the happiest places to work in the UK. It’s a great city to live and work for a great many reasons…  You know about the great Transport System, but we’ve got two world class Universities and a Creative Quarter.  We’re a top ten European city for foreign investment and one of the cleanest cities in Europe. We’re also currently Visit England’s Home of Sport and have been hailed by Rough Guides as a great city to visit in 2016 thanks to a burgeoning arts, music and cultural scene, a great shopping experience and fantastic food and drink venues.

We do things differently in Nottingham. We’re open to new ideas and keen to embrace new ways of thinking and doing.

We particularly encourage applicants from the black and minority ethnic communities as they are currently under represented at senior levels in the organisation.
