Senior Transport Planner

Salary: £32,624 - £39,829
Do you want to help shape the future of Guildford borough? As part of the Planning Policy Team, responsible for the spatial planning of the borough, you will refine, develop and deliver our ambitious transport strategy to tackle the borough’s historic infrastructure deficit and mitigate the principal transport impact of growth.
Reporting to the Principal Transport Planner, you will be working with partners including Network Rail, Highways England, Surrey County Council and the Local Enterprise Partnership, the Council’s Major Projects Team and with developers. You will be involved in a number of exciting new projects to realise two new rail stations, a Sustainable Movement Corridor and a number of local and strategic road schemes.
The successful individual will be educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject, with ideally a post graduate transport qualification. Membership or eligibility for membership of a relevant organisation (e.g. Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation) is also required.
Post qualification experience of transport planning, knowledge of transport issues in the UK and a sound knowledge of legislation are all essential.
The role will suit an individual that is comfortable with presenting to a wide range of audiences, has the ability to write succinct reports, is an independent worker with the ability to relate and engage with people on a range of levels.
